Aim: To plot the characteristics of a diode in forward and reverse biased conditions. Requirement:
Power Supply (0-32V), Digital Multimeter, Diode IN4007, Resister 1K,Ammeter (0-100mA) Activity-1: Diode Forward Characteristics

Circuit Diagram:

Procedure:
1. Connect the circuit as shown in the Fig.1.
2. Vary the input voltage Vs in small steps from 0 to 10V.
3. Note down the readings Vd and Id.
4. Note down the cut-in voltage at which the diode starts conducting.
5. Plot the graph (Vd Id)

Observation:

Activity 2: Diode Reverse Characteristics Procedure:1. Interchange the polarity of the dc supply by connecting -ve polarity to p-side and +ve polarity to n-side of the pn-junction diode.
2. Increase the input voltage Vs stepwise in reverse bias.
3. Note down the readings Vd and Id.
4. Note down the break down voltage at which the diode starts conducting5. Plot the graph (Vd Id)
Observation:
